At Maitland Farm, we strive to create an environment in the classroom and beyond that engages each child's sense of wonder and helps to build the foundations for a lifelong love of learning.

Through a balanced curriculum, active-learning experiences with the natural world, play and exploration each child and adult is part of the Maitland family -- a caring community that encourages relationships of mutual respect and the development of each person's unique potential.

In these uncertain economic times it is vitally important for Maitland Farm to stay true to its mission in providing access to affordable child care to the community.  The Friends of Maitland Farm, a volunteer parent organization, helps with fundraising for educational programs and events for families.  The funds raised by The Friends support Maitland's need-based scholarship program, staff benefits, and playground enhancements.

Maitland Farm Preschool was founded in September of 1978 with a vision of early childhood as a journey of discovery and with the commitment to provide a very special learning environment for young children and their families.  We seek to provide a place where both children and adults feel that they belong and where they know they are valued.  With this sense of physical and psychological safety, each person will be free to grow.

At Maitland Farm we help each child develop his or her potential at his own pace.  We nurture each child's sense of wonder, curiosity, caring and confidence.  Children develop a sense of themselves as capable individuals as they master a variety of skills -- ranging from self help, to motor, to cognitive.

We encourage respect for the environment and for the needs of others.  We do this through a developmentally based program of experiences that encourages the growth of the whole child -- socially, emotionally, physically, intellectually, and cognitively.  The "4 R's" are very important at Maitland Farm.  By helping children develop healthy relationships and a sense of respect, responsibility and resourcefulness, parents and teachers help children build firm foundations for life.

Maitland's staff seeks to reach beyond the bounds of our own program to involve ourselves in community activities that will be of mutual benefit, as learning is a lifelong process for us all.  We seek to conduct ourselves in a caring and professional manner that will demonstrate our commitment to quality programs for young children throughout the community.
